All Things Considered
National Public Radio
August 7, 1998
When President Bill Clinton is forced to admit having sex with Monica Lewinsky, Ken Starr will have destroyed the last remnant of chivalry in the US. Noble Bill lied, as any true gentleman would, when he was originally asked if he'd had relations with the innocent young Monica. The President was willing to risk it all to protect her good name.
Many lesser men would have bragged about such a conquest, but not Bill. No sir! The Knight's Apprentice regrets that this chivalrous act may result in a personal and national disaster. Let us hope another knight will arrive and unhorse the villain Starr before all is lost. It will not be easy, as Starr is well-protected by Noble Bill's enemies among the extremist reactionaries in Congress.
